Canada Goose

The Canada Goose is sometimes mistakenly called as the canadian goose, but it’s really called canada goose.

HABITAT

The Canada Goose’s habitat near water such as ponds, lakes, rivers, marshes, bogs, and sloughs. They also live on grassy fields such as golf courses, parks, and grain fields.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURE

The distinguishing features that the Canada Goose have are that they have a black head and neck. They also have broad white cheek patches that go from the throat to the rear of the eye.

INTERESTING FACTS

•Some hunter think that they are the smartest birds
•They are also monogamous with means they have one mate for there hole life.

STATUS

The canada goose is recovering. They were hunted by hunter for lots of money. There feathers and skin were sold in mostly jackets. Hunters abused the animals by hunting out of season which almost made their extinct.

 

PREDATORS AND ADOPTATIONS

Some predators of the Canada Goose are Humans, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, bobcats, foxes, gulls, eagles, crows, ravens, and magpies.

DIET

The Canada Goose’s diet is based on mostly on vegetation. They eat grass, roots, young sprouts, grain, corn, wheat, oats. They also eat wild food plants such as sedge, cattail, horsetail, clover, bulrush, and pondweed.
